JOB SUMMARY:  The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation of the physical plant and for conducting preventive and repair maintenance.

Essential Specific Job Duties

• Performs boiler and HVAC maintenance.
• Assists with the safe, efficient operation and mechanical upkeep of boilers and related HVAC equipment.
• Performs boiler, cooling water testing, and works with related chemicals.
• Assists with fire alarm testing, sprinkler testing, emergency generator and other safety equipment.
• Performs pneumatic maintenance and calibration.
• Performs repairs, preventive maintenance and completes work orders as directed.
• Assists with the safe efficient operation and mechanical upkeep of commercial laundry equipment, refrigeration, elevator and lift equipment, and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Performs carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, heating and minor electrical.
• Performs snow removal on walks, parking lots, drive ways, etc. and rotates to an early shift to ensure that areas are kept safe and free of snow and ice.
• Performs equipment maintenance on bobcat, mowers, snow blowers, plows and related equipment.
• Repairs other equipment, i.e. wheel chairs, rehab equipment, etc.
• Rotates weekends for engineering checks.
• Manages emergency on call evenings and weekends in the absence of the Buildings and Grounds Manager as directed.
• Works in collaboration with other departments by supporting and promoting team effort.
• Follows and supports all policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.
