Description
The Food Services Assistant – Sets up, serves, closes breakfast, bag lunch, noon and evening serving lines. Helps with special events as directed.

Essential Job Specific Duties:
Sets up, oversees, assists serving, closes and cleans the breakfast, bag lunch, noon and evening lines.
Prepares beverages for these meals.
Prepares the dish machine and soiled dish collection area; prepares soiled silverware soak tubs.
Checks, replenishes, orders food and non-food items and records; puts these away when received.
Washes some dishes and stacks/soaks the remainder.
Oversees or performs monthly plate and cup stain removal procedure.
Closes and cleans the noon and evening serving line, serving areas and beverage stations.
Meets with supervisor daily or as needed to clarify procedures, to alert to needs and repairs and to makes suggestions.
Assists with laundry for kitchen and dining room.
Assists in set-up, serving and clean-up special events as needed.
Cleans dining room areas and equipment as per scheduled or as assigned.
Performs duties of food production staff as needed.
Closes dining room area as directed.
Provides direction to utility workers and volunteers.
Complies with all safety and sanitation procedures.
Communicates positively and effectively with supervisor, coworkers, Sisters, volunteers, guests, and all employees of the organization.
Improves self in any way possible to enhance job performance.
Readily Performs other job duties as assigned.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, and other required meetings.
Supports/promotes the Order, its Mission, Values, programs and achievements to the public and other employees.
Identifies organizational problems and opportunities for improvement and brings solutions and suggestions to management’s attention.
Functions as a team member by assisting, supporting, and encouraging other employees in any way possible.
Serves as a positive role model for the organization by utilizing effective communication and encouraging teamwork through collaborative and cooperative interactions with all employees, departments and administration.
Follows and supports all policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.
