Job SummaryThe Wellness Coordinator is responsible for planning and directing purposeful programs and services to Sisters which offer a variety of physical and recreational opportunities promoting the highest level of function according to need, ability and interest.

 

Essential Managerial Job Duties

Understands, endorses and supports the Mission and Values of the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.

Understands, endorses, supports and teaches the policies and procedures of the organization.

Develops, gains approval of and implements goals, objectives and budgets for his/her area of responsibility.

Provides meaningful input in regards to the policies, operations and direction of the organization.

Demonstrates leadership by presenting a positive example, establishing high standards, holding people accountable, and maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity.

Supports and cooperates with other Departments, Managers, and Administration.

 

Essential Supervisory Job Duties

Hires, orients, trains, and develops employees in his/her area of responsibility.

      Supervises and directs the efforts of employees in his/her area of responsibility.

Evaluates employees in his/her area of responsibility in an objective and timely manner.  

Identifies the need for disciplinary action, initiates appropriate discipline and follows through accordingly.

 

Essential Specific Job Duties

Plans and directs Wellness programs and services, offering a variety of physical and recreational opportunities for Sisters promoting the highest level of function according to need, ability and interest, plus performs and/or assists with delivery of services as needed. Evaluates Wellness programs and services and adjusts as needed.

Meets regularly with Supervisor to provide information on overall Wellness plan, goals and daily operations.

Oversees contract of contract therapy provider and services provided to ensure therapy needs of Sisters are met.

Works cooperatively with licensed therapists from contract therapy provider to provide home program modalities and exercises as established by licensed therapists, plus maintains records and reports Sister progress back to licensed therapist.

Reports observed potential need for therapeutic intervention to contract therapy provider and/or Nursing Department.

Evaluates the recreational needs of Sisters and establishes goals and programs based on need. Leads planning, organization and implementation of small group and one to one interventions based on assessed need for Sisters.  Ensures availability of appropriate modalities for use in exercise and therapeutic activities.

Develops and maintains documentation of Wellness services provided, including the development of reports needed for reimbursement through MSHO plus monthly statistical service reports.

Provides information and training to Wellness staff, Sisters, and volunteers to implement Wellness services.

Orders and distributes Wellness Department supplies and equipment.

Provides a safe, clean environment for Sisters and staff. Establishes schedule for maintenance, cleaning and quality control of all department equipment.

Oversees the inventory and maintenance schedule of all assistive devices, walkers, wheelchairs, cushions, etc. and assigns devices to Sisters in collaboration with RN and contract therapy provider.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services and other required meetings.

Works closely with Supervisor and Director of Human Resources in recruiting staff, employee orientation, employee issues, and providing ongoing education.

Responsible for reporting to the Director of Human Resources the department’s employee hours worked and benefits utilized for payroll purposes.

Supervises, trains and develops internal and external volunteers in areas of responsibility.

 

Essential Specific Job Duties (Continued)

Develops staff and internal and external volunteer schedules, coordinating and monitoring assignments to ensure delivery of services and appropriate use of time.

Addresses and resolves employee and internal and external volunteer issues promptly, utilizing constructive problem solving processes incorporating appropriate/innovative approaches and solutions.

Develops and updates written work procedures for the Department Operations Manual to ensure work quality, continuity, and to determine ways to improve service, performance, and safety.       

Assesses and monitors levels of satisfaction, investigates promptly and resolves appropriately issues/concerns regarding Wellness services.

Serves as an effective leader and team member by demonstrating positive communication and collaborative/cooperative interactions with Supervisor, Sisters, employees, departments, administration, guests and volunteers.

Serves as a positive role model for the organization by utilizing effective communication and encouraging teamwork through collaborative and cooperative interactions with all employees, departments, and administration.

Follows and supports all policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.

Improves self in any way possible to enhance job performance.

Supports/promotes the Order, its Mission, Values, programs and achievements to the public and other employees.

Identifies organizational problems and opportunities for improvement and brings solutions and suggestions to management’s attention.
