Description

Job SummaryThe Cook Assistant is responsible for providing assistance for meal preparation and dining services.

Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday.

 

Essential Specific Job Duties

Determines daily workload following menu and Cook/Baker’s instruction.

Accurately measures ingredients, labels, assembles and finishes all food following established recipes yielding high quality products.

Follows daily production guide for special instructions and pulling frozen items.

Processes foods for modified diets.

Samples prepared foods for quality and provides suggestions for improvement and new ideas.

Unlocks or secures kitchen and storage areas.  Starts or shuts down all equipment according to procedure.

Resets tables according to diagram and seating charts and sets up guests tables as needed.

Operates food temperature maintenance systems.

Assists Sisters with menu selection, either by a written menu, walking with Sister, delivering special foods prepared in kitchen or makes food selections for Sisters who can not choose foods.

Portions, packages and labels foods for weekly food orders.

Washes all equipment and tools and returns them to the proper location.

Answers phone, relays messages, responds to written communication, and implements changes regarding dietary and menu needs.

Unpacks all foods and rotates stock for all service areas.

Greets Sisters by name and in a friendly fashion.

Is aware of silence days and follows guidelines.

Reviews communication book daily to stay abreast of any changes.

Prepares all food and beverages for service and maintains equipment sanitation.

Maintains appropriate levels of foods and supplies in service areas, rotates stock, and reorders as necessary.

Completes cleaning according to established schedule.

Performs all tasks in accordance with guidelines for safety and sanitation.

Performs all duties according to timelines and prioritizes work accordingly.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, and other required meetings.

Serves as a positive role model for the organization by utilizing effective communication and encouraging teamwork through collaborative and cooperative interactions with all employees, departments and administration.

Follows and supports all policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.
