Shift:Day; 3 days/wk 9 am - 4 pm; every third Sat and Sun 12:30-4:30 pm
Description
The Wellness Activity Assistant is responsible to assist in the development of and for performing exercise and therapeutic activities with Sisters as assigned. 

Requirements: High school; 1 year exercise and activity programming; Experience working with older adults including Dementia preferred


Essential Specific Job Duties
 
Works cooperatively with Contract Therapy Provider to maintain a Sisters physical strength, balance, range of motion, and coordination.
 
Carries out large group, small group and one on one Wellness programs for physical, cognitive, or pain management needs which include social, recreational, sensory stimulation, validation and/or reminiscence activities.
               
Identifies and communicates observations of special needs or concerns of the Sisters, including changes in Sisters physical, cognitive or pain status to supervisor.
 
Keeps accurate records of assigned Sisters. Records individual Sister information on appropriate forms.
 
Issues w/c, cushions, and other appropriate items to assigned Sisters and keeps accurate records.
 
Provides safe, clean environment for Sisters and Staff. Carries out established schedule for maintenance, cleaning and quality control of all department equipment.
 
Works cooperatively with internal and external volunteers to carry out wellness programs.
 
Provides input to Coordinator for ordering equipment and supplies.
 
Attends and participates in staff meetings and inservices and other required meetings.
 
Protects the confidentiality of Sister’s personal and medical information.
 
Serves as a positive role model for the organization by utilizing effective communications and encouraging teamwork through collaborative and cooperative interactions with all employees, departments and administration.
 
Follows and supports the policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.
