The Wellness Activity Assistant is responsible to assist in the development of and therapeutic recreational activities with Sisters as assigned. The Wellness Activity Assistant is also responsible for assisting Sisters to perform their Home Exercise Program as assigned by the Contract Therapist, as well as assisting residents with activities of daily living in a way which promotes physical, social and emotional well-being.

Essential Specific Job Duties
 
Helps plan and carry out large group, small group and one on one Wellness programs for physical, cognitive, or pain management needs. This includes sensory stimulation, art, validation and reminiscence activities.

Works cooperatively with Contract Therapy Provider to maintain Sisters' physical strength, balance, range of motion, and coordination as trained. 

Works cooperatively with St. Scholastica Nursing staff to carry out Sisters Plan of Care for daily living.
            
Identifies and communicates observations of special needs or concerns of the Sisters, including changes in Sisters physical, cognitive or pain status to supervisor.
 
Keeps accurate records of assigned Sisters. Records individual Sister information on appropriate forms.
 
Assists in issuing w/c, cushions, and other adaptive equipment and Wellness items to assigned Sisters.
 
Provides safe, clean environment for Sisters and Staff.

Carries out established schedule for maintenance, cleaning and quality control of all department equipment.
 
Attends and assists Sisters on outings.

Assists with meal service and necessary preparation as needed.

Follows all organization policies for infection control and practices good hygiene.

Works cooperatively with internal and external volunteers to carry out wellness programs.
 
Provides input to Coordinator for ordering equipment and supplies.
 
Attends and participates in staff meetings and inservices and other required meetings.
 
Protects the confidentiality of Sister’s personal and medical information.
