Description

Job Summary:  The Environmental Services Lead is responsible for maintaining and managing tasks of housekeeping, laundry, and floor care to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive environment.

 

Essential Managerial Job Duties

Understands, gives input, endorses, supports and teaches the policies and procedures of the organization.

 

Develops, gains approval of and implements goals, objectives and budgets for his/her area of responsibility.

Demonstrates leadership by presenting a positive example, establishing high standards, holding people accountable, and maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity.

Supports and cooperates with other Departments, Managers, Sisters and Administration.

Essential Lead Job Duties

Assists with hiring, orientating, training, and developing employees in his/her area of responsibility.

Leads and directs the efforts of employees in his/her area of responsibility.

Communicates with supervisor the evaluation of employees in his/her area of responsibility in an objective and timely manner.

Identifies the need for disciplinary action, communicates and assists supervisor with appropriate discipline and follow through in a timely manner.

Essential Specific Job Duties

Ensures that adequate, clean linen/mop heads are distributed in accordance with the need.

Maintains supplies and equipment for the department.

Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment for housekeeping, laundry, and floor care areas.

Observes when major repairs are or may be necessary and when new equipment and furniture is needed and forwards requests to the Physical Plant Manager.

Prepares Environmental Services Assistant work schedule per needs of the organization.

Plans, organizes, assigns, and monitors the tasks of housekeeping, laundry, and floor care to abide by safety and sanitary regulations. 

Works, communicates, and cooperates with other departments in the facility.

Assists with housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.

Meets with Environmental Services employees monthly or as necessary.

Coordinates ongoing education relating to housekeeping, laundry, and floor care.

Meets with Physical Plant Manager on a regular basis and attends other meetings and trainings as assigned. 

Observes and implements safety and sanitation procedures.

Performs all duties according to timelines and prioritizes work accordingly.

Serves as a positive role model for the organization by utilizing effective communication and encouraging teamwork through collaborative and cooperative interactions with all employees, departments and administration.

Follows and supports all policies and procedures as established by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.

Essential Specific Job Duties - Resident Rooms

Dust; wall hangings, drapes, light fixtures, stands, dressers, desks, lamps, vents, register, and ceilings.

Washes walls, windows, tracks, doors, door knobs, telephones, bedside tray tables.

Washes/vacuums recliners/chairs, empty and clean waste containers, and clean and sanitize humidifiers, and fans.

Mops, scrubs, strips, and re-coats hard floors, vacuum and extract carpeting.

Strips, washes, flips mattresses, wash/dust and make beds.

Moves, sets up and takes down furniture.

Essential Specific Job Duties - Laundry

Collects general linens from collection sites.

Sorts, pre-spots, loads, washes, unloads, dries, irons, folds, stacks, and returns processed laundry to assigned areas.

Keeps work areas and equipment clear of dust and lint.

Maintains appropriate dryer temperature control for specific fabric care.

Essential Specific Job Duties - Equipment

Operates and cleans floor care equipment and cleans housekeeping cart.

Operates and cleans laundry machines.

Reports malfunctions of equipment and safety concerns to supervisor/maintenance.

Maintain Safety Data labels on products in his/her areas of responsibility.

Essential Specific Job Duties - Bathrooms & Utility Rooms

Washes walls, base boards, mirrors, grab bars, medicine cabinets, sinks, stools, showers, and bathtubs.

Dusts vents, ceiling, and upper walls, empty and clean waste and pad containers.

Restocks supplies: toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissue, personal supplies, can liners, lotion, soap and cleaning products.

Mops and scrubs floors. 

Essential Specific Job Duties - Common Areas, Offices, Hallways and Outside Areas

Dusts wall hangings and furniture, vacuum/wash chairs, empty and clean waste containers.

Cleans refrigerators, sinks, counters, telephones, bathtubs, televisions, light fixtures, vents, fans, and humidifiers.

Mops, scrubs, strips, and re-coats hard floors, vacuum and extract carpeting, change and clean rugs.

Sweeps sidewalks, cleans patio furniture and other items and areas as assigned.

Maintains special wood finishes in chapel and other areas.

Washes walls, windows, tracks, doors, and door knobs.

Non-Essential Job Duties

 

Improves self in any way possible to enhance job performance.

Identifies organizational problems and opportunities for improvement and brings solutions and suggestions to management’s attention.
